Spring 2017 Development Academy Registration is Open!

Registration must be completed and the $525 registration fee PAID by the end of the day on Wednesday January 11th.

If space permits, late registration may be considered on a case-by-case basis, with a $35 late fee.  In addition, we cannot guarantee placement for more than 28 players in each age group.

If any age group has between 15-19 players at the close of the registration period, we will open a waitlist for late registrants in an effort to get enough players to form a second team.  If there are not enough players to form a second team, players on teams with 15-19 registrants will each be assigned at least one bye week, so that there are not too many players at each game. Players who do not register and pay by January 11th are not guaranteed a roster position.

AGE BRACKET RULES: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

Spring 2017 Development Academy registration is for players in Grades 2 through 4 with birth dates in the years 2007-2008.  Players currently in 2nd grade with birth dates in 2009 should NOT register for this program -- they should register for 2d Grade Junior Academy (registration opening in February).  Development Academy players should register according to their birth year, not school grade.  Players born in 2007 should register for U10, and players born in 2008 should register for U9.

To register, please click on “register online.”  Further details, including our refund policy, may be found under the “Development Academy” tab at the top of the page.

*Why do we run registration for the spring now?

Our members sometimes ask us why we run registration for Spring Travel and Academy programs so far in advance of the spring season.  There are a number of factors that influence our decision to complete registration early.  First, we need to have solid registration numbers as soon as possible so that we can understand our coaching needs and allow our professional coaching organizations ample time to find quality coaches for our programs.  Significant lead time is required, especially when handling immigration issues.  Second, our non-profit club incurs significant costs in order to provide our children the opportunity to play soccer.  Many of these costs, such as equipment, maintenance, and insurance, are incurred well in advance of the season.   Other clubs in our area require a two-season commitment from their players and require full payment for both seasons by early Fall.  We have not done this, and allow our players to play only one season if they so choose.  Allowing this flexibility, however, requires that we complete our spring registration in a timely manner.

Elite Team Victorious in Pennsylvania

The Weston Elite Team, consisting of U12-U15 players, were in Lancaster Pennsylvania this weekend, playing teams from Delaware and Maryland as well as local teams also. They played fantastically and adapted well not only to some sizeable opposition, but, as importantly, to the weather conditions. On day one they experienced glorious sunshine and temperatures in the low 70's, contrast this with serious high winds and temperatures in the low 30's for day 2.

Through it all they played some truly first class soccer that was not only very easy on the eye but also enormously effective from a scoring standpoint. Having racked up 16 unanswered goals in the Saturday sun, Sunday proved marginally more challenging. That said having started the day with a one sided 4-1 victory, the final game beckoned against the only other team with a 100% record for what was, effectively, the tournament decider. All looked good with a dominant display and a one goal lead but then two rapid opposition goals temporarily threw them off their stride. To demonstrate the Weston Soccer mentality our team, many of whom were 2 or 3 years younger than the opponents, fought back brilliantly scoring the winning goal in the dying seconds. Even on the bitterly cold sidelines it suddenly felt a heck of a lot warmer as the high fives and hugs were free flowing!

The record may sound somewhat broken but this program continues to turn out consistent success and performance excellence. On the back of the recent league and CT Cup successes, as well as earlier tournament victories this was an outstanding way to end a truly magnificent Fall season. We've had a great platform for some time now and it's going from strength to strength, enjoy all of the upcoming holidays and whilst we should revel in all of these festivities, we can also look forward to the Spring season with great optimism.

Thank you to all of the parents that made the trip down to PA, to Kevin for yet more inspired and motivational coaching and, of course, to this team of magnificent young players who did themselves, their town, and their state proud.
